Postnatal Massage

Postnatal massage

Postnatal massage or post-partum massage as the name clearly suggests is the massage given to women after their delivery.

The postnatal massages are very effective in turning your body back to its pre-pregnancy condition. It helps reduces fatigue, increases blood circulation and relaxes muscles, alleviating musculoskeletal aches and pains.

Post pregnancy massage helps provides emotional and mental health support and reorients the mother to get back to her original form pre pregnancy.

Post pregnancy massage is also aimed at helping the new mum overcome and recover from post-partum depression. With the arrival of a new baby it is even more important to give yourself quality “me-time.” It’s all to easy to focus all your energy and time on your baby and to forget your own needs.

You also need love, nurturing and care.

Postnatal massage will give you a much needed chance to relax, restore and re-energise.

Had two lovely massages so far at The Zen Garden, both times felt welcoming, calming & above all just what I needed, the setting around you gives you a feel that your mind can wander away a midst your massage into a place of calm & total relaxation. Lovely experience.

I started using Zenses Holistic Therapies in January, after being let down by another therapist. I was pregnant when Tania first started treating me with Reflexology. I was aware of the benefits that Reflexology can give when you are pregnant. It can help reduce labour times as well as induce it, as well as relax you too.I have continued to receive treatments after the birth of my daughter in April 2012, as a weekly treat for myself after looking after a very busy family, as well as for post natal recovery, helping with hormonal imbalances.I can highly recommend Tania as she makes you feel at ease as she treats you

  • Provides deep relaxation. This is very important when you become exhausted after night feeding your new born baby.
  • Relieves shoulders and neck pain from carrying and breast feeding or bottle feeding your baby.
  • Helps restore the uterus to its original pre-pregnancy state.
  • Helps to eliminate excess body fluids and reduces fluid retention.
  • Helps in weight loss by giving new tone to your muscles.
  • Increases blood circulation.
  • Helps you feel good about yourself, reducing stress and tension, which will also help to prevent the postnatal depression and baby blues.

Massage during the weeks after delivery helps to restore muscle tone in the abdomen and re-position the pelvis.  You can begin receiving massage 6-8 weeks after a C-Section after you have received your check up. The use of some specific types of oils during massage can aid the smoothing of scar tissue after delivery.
